Sneak Peek at McMenamins’ Renovation of the Taft Hotel

McMenamins is renovating the historic Taft Hotel in downtown Portland, which will feature 63 hotel rooms, three bars and restaurants, and a direct bridge to the adjacent Crystal Ballroom. The building previously operated as the Taft Home, a low-income senior residence that closed in 2021 after displacing over 70 residents due to building violations. McMenamins purchased the 1906 property for $1.5 million in 2024, with plans to preserve original architectural features while adding new amenities, though no official opening date has been announced.
